  1. Looking for a Program that Opens a Folder or Subfolders when You Hover

    To All Program Experts!

Is there a program that will open a folder whenever you hover over its icon?

Let me explain why I need it. I keep all my documents (thousands of them) in a group of folders on my Windows 10 desktop.

It would be awesome if I could just hover over a folder's icon and the folder would open to its immediate right, showing all the subfolders and files inside. Then, when I immediately move my mouse over to the right and hover over one of the subfolders, that subfolder's subfolder will open to its immediate right again. I keep doing this over and over again until I finally reach the file or folder I want. It's sort of like opening a cascading series of folders.

Finally, when I find what I'm looking for, all I need to do is stop hovering over the folders or subfolders, and all the folder lists would automatically vanish (aka. automatically close by themselves).

There must be a program that does something as simple as this, right? Please say yes!!!

I know that Classic Shell sort of does this but you have keep the folders at the start menu and to move from folder to subfolder, you have to click on it. I would love for the subfolder to open automatically by just hovering over it. And, have these folder icons initially located on my desktop. It would make my day.

Do you guys know of a program that does this?

As always I will be eternally grateful and I will address you as "Expert Computer Guru" for the next week. I will also promise you my firstborn and my girlfriend has agreed to give you a massage. Thank you for your help!

    :)

Why does Windows 10 exit to parent folder up on dragging a file to a network folder?

    Your list is correct Shawn,

The open 'subfolder' will step back into 'folder', with 'subfolder' selected in the list.

This behaivour does not apply to local folders.

Server is a regular Windows 7 PC.

LIST view for folders and subfolders - Win10

    Hi.

I've only just installed Windows 10-- I waited til the last possible moment in hopes of having the least problem with bugs or other issues from a year ago.

I suppose this isn't indigenous to 10, but since all my folders seem to be defaulting to Details view, I went looking for a way to make select folders AND their subfolders-- specifically, the Documents folder and Downloads-- show as List view.

Anyway, I read a few things about Registry tweaks, but, although I'm pretty well-versed in PCs, I really don't understand much of what's discussed about Registry stuff; I do much better with a specific, step-by-step instruction.

I appreciate the .Bat files Brink provide in his link, but alas, none of those options allow for List view. Is my ONLY option to individually change each one? Because, that seems so unnecessary in 2016! No idea why it wouldn't be an ultra-simple bit of code. But, do you know of a way to do what I'm asking?

(Parenthetically, an awful lot of "Windows 10" tweaks I'm seeing online illustrate menus and views that aren't there in my Windows. Weird stuff.)

    Thanks!

    Jak
