tl;dr: quick app for graphically/visually searching through open app windows as you type— like this— on Windows 10?

Hi guys! So there's a feature that is either built-in or otherwise readily available on desktops that I'm used to, and it's the single window management function that I'm currently missing most when I have to use Windows.

    Tools I've tried

SwitchBlade and Switcheroo are mostly good, but their presentation of application windows doesn't include a graphical representation of those windows (and the latter tool seems to be unmaintained.

PowerToys Run has a functionality that is almost okay for this, but it's a little worse: if you prefix a search query with < (and a space, ) it will search through your open windows. But the keybinding is 3x as long as I'd like and involves 2x as many chords (ALT+Space, then Shift+,, then Space, THEN type your query to filter windows). (For this tool to be useful, the entire sequence of keystrokes, including my query, naturally needs to be reliably faster than picking up a mouse or hitting alt+tab a few times.)

And unfortunately, with all of these tools, the representation of open applications/windows is more or less non-graphical.

    ‘Requirements’

If anyone knows a tool that ticks all of these boxes, I'd be happy to pay for it. If I have to compromise on something that isn't quite what I'm looking for, I'd prefer a tool that's free to use for commercial purposes.

Features: - activated with a single keystroke (e.g., F10) or a single two-key chord (e.g., Win+s, then you can immediatley start typing to search - summons and presents open windows graphically, ideally with some kind of animation by the window compositor - filters windows as you type based on application name, window titlebar contents, window description, and other window metadata - can be restricted to searching only windows that are present on the current desktop

  2. Windows 10 for Visually impaired

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the issue description your girlfriend is visually impaired and can't see the icons and you want black color as the background color. Here are the steps which might help you to fix the issue.

    • Press Windows key + X.
    • Select Control Panel from the list.
    • Select large icons under view by option.
    • Click on personalize.
    • Select any of the theme under High Contrast theme as per your interest.

In order to enlarge the taskbar icons you may refer to the steps provided below and see if it helps.

    • Right click on the task bar.
    • Click on Properties.
    • Uncheck the box stating "Use small taskbar buttons" under taskbar tab.

Hope this would help. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to assist you.

    WM6 Task filtering

I'm having the same problem. In Windows Mobile 6 Professional, applying the "Active Tasks" filter in the Task List does not seem to work. Previously, if you applied the "Active Tasks" filter it would not show tasks that have a future start date.

    Task View

It's the Task View, not the Task Bar, that is the problem. I should be getting the popup (right clicking on Task View) showing the options for additional Desktops, not the five options for the Task Bar. A 'chat' with MS Solutions said that I should reinstall
Windows 10 to MAYBE correct this problem. Any suggestions to correct?? Thanks for your interest...I really appreciate it.
The Task View is the only feature that I may like on 10!!
