Windows 10: Looking for assistance in deleting scraps of winRAR which broke my device.

Hey, I recently downloaded WinRAR as a way to extract certain files I downloaded. And it worked fine, however the problems started when I went to delete it and the uninstaller for WinRAR didn't work. I decided I could use the windows app uninstaller to remove it, however it sent me to the same WinRAR uninstaller exe and didn't work again. Finally I decided to just delete it from my files and it mostly worked however some files were blocked from a driver or something so I deleted them quickly as I booted up my pc, so something presumably didn't have time to load up to stop me. This worked. Once

Do you have WinRAR installed on your PC?

If so: right click a RAR, choose 'Open With' - Choose Another App

Important - Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open rar . . .'

If WinRAR is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Again if WinRAR is not in the list, at the bottom, click 'Look for another app on this PC', then navigate to find the WinRAR executable . . .

same problem, I was able to delete the file from(within) winrar

 

I can't delete winrar, says file is open in another program, causing virus (I think)

Yes WinRar is commonly wrapped in unwanted programs if installed from a non-official website

Your best option is to manually delete the WinRar folder - C:\Program Files\WinRAR

Then go into Control Panel - Programs and Features and try to uninstall it again - it will then be removed form the list of installed apps . . .
