Windows 10: Lorex Security System Client will not download on my Windows 10 PC! "The file or directory...

Trying to download Lorex's Client 13 to use with their budget wi-fi/DVR security camera setup. I'm pretty pleased with the product overall, except for this bizarre issue: when I try to download their client for viewing/downloading video, my computer won't even open the .exe file.

1) yes, I spent hours on the phone/computer with their tech support people, and they said no one else is having problems downloading the client

2) and yes, I googled "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error messages and various people said to try CHKDSK, so I just got done trying that and it did not help.

Does anyone have advice, either specifically with Lorex's client and Windows 10, or just with this type of error message on Windows 10 generally. Note that my PC is a pretty nice and new refurbished PC that doesn't have any other known issues, and I download other files/programs regularly with absolutely no problem. Thanks in advance.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

  • Selecting something in the Directory column in the Directory view (Left window) while holding "z" will peek into that directory!
