  1. Losing data from hdd after installing Windows 10 on new ssd

    Hi all,

I got myself a new ssd to replace my aging hdd. I downloaded the Windows 10 installation media tool, installed on usb, removed my hdd, installed my new ssd and booted. Installed windows on the ssd fine. Then reconnected the hdd and rebooted. All "user" files are gone, the folders are empty. Photos, videos, downloads, saved games ?... I have back ups of the photos and videos but not the rest.

Is there a way to recover my old downloads and "user" saved files game saves? If I remove the ssd, will it boot again from the hdd and will my files reappear or are they deleted? I don't mind reinstalling windows on the ssd.

    Thanks in advance wise ones...

    :)

  3. New Windows install on SSD - Raid HDD Question

    Hi,

I had an issue with my boot drive in Windows 10 which ultimately resulted in me having to format and re-install windows on my SSD.

Before doing so I unplugged my 3 HDD which are configured in a RAID configuration. Because the OS was on the SSD, I didnt want to have any risk of losing my data from my HDDs, hence remvoing these before formating the SSD
    and reinstalling Windows 10.

Windows 10 is now fully operational, but I havent installed my HDDs yet.

The question I have – can I simply plug my HDDs and Windows will recodgnise they are part of a RAID setup, or do I need to do some configuration on Windows to recognise the HDDs? I dont want to run the risk of losing any
of the data on the HDDs, hence I havent plugged these in yet until I know how to go about it.

    Thanks for your help

Losing data from hdd after installing Windows 10 on new ssd

OS on new SSD, keep existing data on HDD and use as external drive

I want to use a new SSD to run my OS on my PC. I have a lot of data on my HDD and dont want it on the SSD but do want to keep it.

I have read that you shouldn't use an external drive that has Windows installed so how would i go about doing what I need?

I.e. get Windows onto the SSD, replace HDD with SSD, use HDD as external drive, and keep data from HDD on HDD.

    Thanks!

(P.s. any guides or instructions to any steps would be great but if not then no issue)
