Windows 10: Losing sound on Video Editor when undertaking a trim

Microsoft Photos now has a new video editor. Previously I could trim a video by a simple process and all was well with the trimmed version. Now I find that I have lost the sound when I undertake a trim using the new video from the sound that is on the untrimmed MP4 file . What steps am I missing please?

Unable to trim/expand custom audio file in video editor

Hi - I have added custom audio (created by the voice recorder) to my project in Windows Video Editor. It appears and plays just fine; however, I am unable to expand or trim it. Instead of seeing a "bar" that I can move or expand, it appears as a tiny line
that won't stretch. I am trying to add my narration to my video. Appreciate any assistance.

That seems to be a 1 year license and not a lifetime license.
