It would appear that some folks have already started accepting Windows 10. . .maybe this is going to be a good thing. . .or not.

Data Loss while upgrading

is there any data loss while upgrading my windows phone from 8.1 to windows 10??????

 

First MeeGo tablet makes an appearance.

Seriously though, that's impressive...5 finger touch, different methods of display, the quality of being able to watch 720p. i'd buy that over a duff iphoney ipood anyday

Why?

 

The only dodgy number was x-p was up 5% in 30 days *Shock

 

These numbers do not pass any reasonability test. If we assume that the total market inventory is at least 1 Billion (and that is probably a low number) systems, then 1% represents 10 Million.

Now from where should have come that nearly 5% increase for XO - and that in 1 month !!!. That would be 50 Million new XP systems that suddenly came out of the closet. And even the over 3% more for W7 (over 30 million +) are questionable.

Markets do not change that fast in only 1 month. And in PCs most of the growth comes from new sales. Who is selling PCs with XP ??

I think those people should review their methodology before they publish such rubbish. The only way those number could make some sense is if the market shrunk dramatically. But there is no indication of that either. New sales may have shrunk but that has only a long term impact on the inventory.

That is possible. Businesses might give there employees older computers. Relative might give there grandkids an older computer and so on. I do actually see windows 7 increase plausible. Places getting rid of their windows 7 at reduced prices. I even considered getting a vista system at one time.

 

T.V. has been showing allot of PC Matic commercials saying x-per's will be safe if they use their product *Roflmao2

 

That makes no sense. If a computer changes hands that does not change the overall inventory. If I give you my computer, that does not change the total number of computers in the world.

Why? Even though I don't like the W8 series, it doesn't seem reasonable that ~5 percentage points of the Desktop PC users running it would suddenly swap back to XP.

It seems more likely that NetMarketShare accidentally included the sites that they recently excluded, which resulted in that ~6% swap from XP to the W8 series (a couple of months ago).

For the most part you are correct about gifts, there is a way that would work but very few people would do that. However, I still standby places selling Windows 7 at reduced prices could very well increase the usage statistics in Windows 7.
