Windows 10: Loss of cursor control on a new Windows 10, 64 bit

I have sporadic loss of cursor control using my touch pad on my new (6 months old) Windows 10 Lenovo Laptop. I do not use a mouse. I did not have this issue the first 3 or 4 months on my new Laptop. If I use a mouse, then the problem goes away. I prefer not to use mouse as I am vulnerable for Tendinitis or Carpel Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) with mouse use. Had it 20 years back and took me a 18 months to get rid of CTS.


Why do I have this issue now? The thread posed on this issue on Microsoft user community, which is now locked did not really reveal me anything? It offered solution of mouse removal and reinstall. My problem is with touch pad and not with mouse!

Can someone help?

I don't have better steps - this is all, I have nothing to add.

Maybe it is worth noting issue was on Windows 10 Enterprise, build 14393.187, so maybe you should test on the same.
My other PCs have a different Windows 10 version - Pro, latest Insider Preview build from last week, and there is no such issue on those.
All are 64-bit edition of Windows 10.

This issue is not new. I have had same 1-2 years ago too, with older GPU-Z versions.

EDIT: And yes, I have Windows 10 UAC enabled and set to defaults. If you are using your Windows PCs with UAC off, you likely cannot reproduce this issue. *Smile

 

Going from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 10

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

It is completely dependent on the Architecture of your system. If your system type is 32bit it is not recommended to move to 64 bit operating system.

Therefore I would suggest you to follow the steps and check your system type:

1. Press Windows key + R to go to the run command, type "control system" and click Enter.

2. In the System type, if it is mentioned "x64 based processor" then you can upgrade to Windows 10 for 64 bit.
