Loss of photo permissions after Windows 10 upgrade

I had Microsoft upgrade my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I reattached my external drive with all of my personal files and photos. The photos are organized by year and the month subfolder. I discovered that within a year, I can view some months and not others. I get an error message that I do not have permission to view the files.

I called Microsoft tech support and discovered that I had to manually get each picture's permission using the following:

Right click on the picture, click Properties, click Security tab, click Edit, click Add, type Everyone in the "Enter the object names to select" box, OK, click Allow for Full Control, click Apply, OK, OK.

After I do that I back out of that folder and click it again. Then I can view the photo. I have to do this manually for each photo! This is very cumbersome!

All of the files, photos, etc. were created using Windows 7 so I don't understand why I can view some and not others.

Does anyone know how I can correct most/all of them at once?

    :)

    Windows 10 permissions...

How is the NAS on windows 10 Pro? Is it software or a share? Did you check ntfs vs share permissions?

    Windows 10 permissions...

Ok so I feel officially dumb I am trying to copy my steam library to my NAS. Both are on windows 10 pro and both have full control in the file manager. Neither windows nor fast copy will allow me to copy, both list a permissions error? This was never an issue with windows 7...so first off thank you microsoft god forbid I want to back up my data, second off what the heck do I need to do to make this work. All I could fine online was to set full control and that obviously didn't help.

Also robocopy doesn't apparently work with network locations?

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
