    Loss of product key


    I have a pc that came pre-installed with windows 10 from the manufacturer. (It is an MSI Trident 3 desktop) After some time I had to reinstall windows due to some kind of issue that caused boot errors. Due to some unknown reason the factory reset partition on the device always failed and ended up getting stuck at a certain part of the "Percentage complete" amount. In the end I got a bit frustrated and kinda gave up. My dad ended up fixing the OS issues by installing a version of windows 10 with a cracked product key system which allowed the device to avoid any issues related to not knowing or not having a product key to give. Much more recently though I came into contact with what I believed was malware, (in the end It turned out it wasn't) what matters is that I used the "Reset this PC" function in the windows settings. Now I'm left a bit lost at what to do.


    How should I go about fixing my current product key issue?



    Do I go to MSI and see if they can track down the key, or is there some kind of magic you guys can do... I'm a bit lost and frustrated to be honest.

    Where is my Product Key if I want to re-install?


    Like davidhk said. But if you really want to see your windows key, I would suggest Belarc advisor. It will give you some useful information about your system, product keys of your software is among them (not only Microsoft, you will have listed most of your keys).

    i know the product id but forget the product key

    Hello,





    There is still a way to search for your product key. Kindly follow the steps below for you to know your product key:



    • Press Windows key + X
    • Click Command Prompt (admin)
    • Enter the following command: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
    • Then hit Enter
    The product key will be revealed, copy the product key then enter it.

    Give us an update on what happens.
