Windows 10: Lost 2560x1080 resolution on LG34 Monitor after Windows 10 update, 24 Feb 2019

I lost my 2560x1080 resolution on LG34 Monitor after Windows 10 update, 24 Feb 2019. I am using a new Windows Surface Book 2 with a dock and a Display cable. It was working fine before the Windows update but after it the LG Monitor will only recognise 1024x768 and 800x600 resolutions.

Lost 2560x1080 resolution after Windows 10 16 Aug 2018 update

After the automatic Windows 10 update, I could no longer choose 2560x1080 ultrawide resolution on my LG34 inch monitor. My video card is an AMD 7000 legacy display card came with Dell computer in 2013. I tried every method online including updating drivers
from AMD or LG, changing registry, using Microsoft basic display driver, installing DirectX11, etc, and still could not get it resolved. But it works fine after I rolled back to the previous build. See the attached screenshot which is showing 2560 x 1080@60p
Hz which disappeared after the update. This means that the card actually supports ultrawide resolution, just the Windows update made the option disappear. What am I going to do? Never update Windows?

2560x1080 resolution

Probably not, that resolution is not something very standard and would require a lot of time for a very small margin. Problem is these types of resolutions are not generally supported by games so its a harder set of tests to run properly. I would suggest if your interested looking between 1080p and 1440p results to get a rough estimate of where you will see performance. Cannot say much more than that other than looking specifically for sites that have a review of the monitor itself.

 

I can't set the resolution to 2560x1080 on my LG 29UM58-P ultrawide monitor

Monitor: LG 29UM58-P ultrawide Driver version: 1.0.0.0 Driver date: 2015-08-26 with DP to HDMI adapter

OS: Win 10

Altough I tried updating all the drivers I can't set the resolution to 2560x1080 because there is no such an option at the display settings.

When I'm trying to update the driver of the monitor by clicking on the Update driver button at the monitor properties it says "The best drivers for your device are already installed". I saw that there is some new drivers at the support page of LG for this
monitor, i've tried them all but when I run setup it does nothing but shows a popup with one line: "Driver installation success". No progress bar no nothing. And when I check again the driver of the monitor at the monitor properties I see that the driver is
still 1.0.0.0. It does not get updated.
It just works fine on Ubuntu, without any settings required...
