Windows 10: Lost access to laptop after BIOS update and email to verify account to make new pin not...

After an update to my laptop I had to use BitLocker to get back into the laptop. Then it decided it had 'lost' my PIN and said about setting it up. However it never sends me an email for a code. Thus I cannot get into my laptop.I tried restarting several times.Email is working fine. I sent/received a test email.It is not in the spam folder.I can sign into my PC just fine.I have multiple ways to log in yet it goes straight to my account email only. Which is botched to start with as it insists to start my email with a capitol letter when my email address on the account doesnt have one. Of which

Account pin works for signon but not for verify


My MS account four digit pin works fine for sign in with new laptop. But anything I try involving my account elsewhere requires account verify. When entering the pin I get prompted for a seven digit pin? At the same screen, If I request a new pin via email, the request is apparently accepted but no pin is emailed.

Unable to verify account on new laptop

A neighbour has lent me her brand new laptop because she wasn't able to log in. For some reason she didn't get the login info.

I have formatted the machine (this had two advantages: 1. Sure way to get rid of any OEM junk, 2. could set up the account how we wanted).

Unfortunately I am unable to verify the account because its keeps wanting to use a secondary email address thats not listed on the MS account page (she no longer has access to it).

How can I verify the account?

You have to log in to the Microsoft account on Microsoft's website, go to the security tab, and "Update your security info". There you can enter a secondary email address and/or text enabled phone number that she has access to:
