Lost Admin User status on Win 10 Home

    Hi,
saw a couple of my allow app change boxes only have the NO box in them. Checked and I only have Standard User rights which won't allow me to enter YES. Not sure how this came about but wonder if anyone can show me the way to get back to Admin User.

    Thx

    :)

  3. Admin status

    Hi Barb,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    • Did you setup user account as an administrator?
I would suggest you to first check if you have the Administrator privileges on the computer.

    Press Windows key + R

Type control userpasswords2 and press OK

Check what type of user account is create. Is it a local or administrator.

If the user account is already an admin account, run the following command to enable hidden admin account and then check the settings.

Press Windows key + X and click Command Prompt (Admin)

Type the following command and press Enter

    net user administrator /active:yes

To disable it add "no" at the end of the command.

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.

  4. Lost Admin User status on Win 10 Home

OSK popping up when software Run As Admin

    Hi,

We are sorry that the issue still persists.

I suggest you to check if the issue persists in the Built-in Administrator account
(hidden administrator account). To enable the account, follow the steps below:

    • Right Click on Start and select “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
    • Accept the UAC prompt if required.
    • Type “net user administrator /active:yes” (without quotes).

Once you have enabled the account, you will see it listed in the user accounts control panel applet. Login to the account and check for status.

To disable the built-in Administrator account, follow the steps provided above and in step 3 type the command line provided below:

“net user administrator /active:yes” (without quotes).

Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.
