  1. Lost drive mapping in a AD joined windows 10 laptop

During the build process for a new laptop i accidentally created a laptop with the same name as the old laptop. When the user logged onto his old laptop he revived an error message saying that this computer has lost its trust relationship with the domain. The new laptop (which i assume overwrote the old laptop in AD) logs on fine but now ever so often he looses a drive mapping that is mapped via Group policy. if he logs of and on again the mapping reappears for a time . I've been reading around and i am wondering if i Reset the workstation in ADUC will this resolve the issue of lost drive mappings/recreate the relationship with the domain

    :)

Work Mapped drives not working at home.

    Hello All.

I have a user at work that has a laptop as her main work use (docking station at work, then takes it home to work at home).
we have a list of mapped network drives that we use here, including a personal drive.

however when this user gets home or off the network, the personal drive seems to become inactive/go missing.

there are no USB drives that interfere with the network drives, and i am lost looking for solutions.

any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

  3. Windows 10 Laptop - unable to join Ad-Hock network

I would like to set up a wireless connection between a Windows 10 laptop and an ad-hock network (SkyFi wireless telescope controller). Using a serial port (with USB serial adapter) and serial cable, I am able to communicate directly with the Celestron CGEM
telescope mount. After setting up a virtual serial port (HW Virtual Serial Port) on the laptop and establishing a COM3 port I try to join the SkiFi network. The laptop sees the SSID of the SkiFi controller but when attempting to join the ad-hock network it
returns a message "cannot join network." Is it possible for Windows 10 to join ad-hock networks?

The intent of this connection is to wirelessly communicate over a virtual serial link between the laptop and the telescope mount -- no internet is required or needed.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
