Windows 10: Lost Editability Of WAV File Meta Tags, Since 02/16/2019

Sometime after February 16th, I can no longer edit the metatag data of WAV files... Not even the ones I have been editing. I have been ripping my CD collection, as well as digitizing vinyl and cleaning it up. I use them for DJ'ing car shows and special events (i.e. - American Cancer Society Relay for Life). I can still edit MP3 Files Tags v1/v2.


So far, I have tried removing and reinstalling the applications I use, but found I can't even update the visible fields from File Explorer Properties. File permissions seem OK. Changed Ownership of the data partition the files are stored in. Ran scans for PUPs & Malware. The only updates I have since the last time I could edit are Realtek audio driver updates and the daily Windows Defender Definition updates.


I am running out of ides. Anyone out there seen this issue and have possible 'fix'?

Hello,

I've three files: one .wav audio file and two other files, one with .meta extension and the other one with .crc extension.

The file .wav can be listen with an usual sound player.

About the .meta file: I think that it could be contain several other informations other than the usual ones the .wav file contains in its header.

It seems a binary file if inspected with an Hex editor.

Have you idea how to open the .meta file ?

Sorry, I incorrectly wrote the programs for another file extension and edited my previous reply.

As I said previously, RealPlayer is able to open these files.
