Windows 10: Lost headphone jack functionality after April update.

Following the April update, my headphone jack does not work any longer and only the on-board speakers work. How do restore my headphone jack and the separate volume controls for speakers vs. headphones?

Issues with headphones or headphone jack could have happened due to hardware issues. To isolate your concern, we suggest that you update your driver. You can follow this
link for the steps on how to update drivers in Windows 10.

If the issue still occurs, we suggest that you contact your manufacturer to check and troubleshoot your hardware issue with headphone jack.

Headphone jack won't work

I did Step 1 and restarted my PC after the update and the headphone jack still won't work.

I tried to do Step 2 but when I reach the Playback tab it only shows an icon for speakers. There is no icon for headphones at all to select as default.
