Windows 10: lost my orignial desk top showing all my files and folders

I just lost my original set up on my desktop with all my files and folders. now my desk top show's everything in the Start button. completely changed format. in order to get to folders on my desk top, I have to click on a task view bar and it only list all the folders. How can I get it back? to change back to my original format? any help is appreciated.

Was it a Clean installation or through the Get Windows 10 app?

Before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps, I suggest you to Right Click on the desktop and check if the Show Desktop Icons enabled.

Desk top disappeared

Hi

lost all the file folders, PDF's etc from desk top

just the wall paper and recycle bin still there. A few files are left if I go looking for them.

I am having trouble saving a file to my desk top.

I am having trouble saving files to my desk top. Example, I have a spreadsheet ready, file , save as and Desk top is not listed as a choice to save it. My Documents... not there. Where do I go to save the file to my desk top? Desk top is not in my Documents
