Windows 10: lost password of a person who passes away

I was asked to take our pastor computer after he passed away suddenly. All was good as I knew his power on password until I put in a windows 10 update and when it rebooted it is asking for the password for "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***". He never wrote down any passwords and I can't ask for the text message of a forgotten password as the cell phone was disconnected and no longer exist. HOW DO I GET PASS THIS PROBLEM AND MAKE SURE IT DOESNOT COME BACK.THANK YOU, Roger Yarter *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

To which "this" are you referring?
- If you are following the tutorial Bree suggested in the very first reply to your question then what you need to do at each step is explained in detail. So which step are you at?
- If you are following a different procedure then state what it is and which step you are at. If, for example, you are trying to manually enable the Built-In Admin as suggested in post #11 then that account has no password.

If you are not able to recover your password, its best off you reinstall Windows 10.

Go to a working computer, download, create a bootable copy, then perform a custom install.

You will be able to recover your files from Windows.old using the custom install option:

Administrative password bypass

Hi,

I got to the step 3 you suggested. But my computer system doesn't give me an option to enter the password.

it doesn't let me pass that step.
