Windows 10: Lost screen display

1st be kind computer illiterate silver haired not to good a surfer.


Using laptop win 10 computer fired up but no screen, so connected to my sony monitor everything worked fine, until i tried to determine if the laptop screen actually worked. hit a button to switch screens or whatever then lost screen, firing up using f11, f12 tried everything that popped up well the ones I think I. Understood and i obviously had a screen which i obviously do not understand. Any advice will be very much appreciated. Happy New Year to everyone and keep safe in these troubled times.

It is important that you have the correct screen display and resolution. We suggest that you perform the following steps to reset the monitor settings:

• Boot your computer in
  safe mode.
• Once in safe mode, right-click the desktop > Screen Resolution.
• Change the display settings back to the original configuration.
• Restart your computer.

To increase the display timeout, I suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Select Desktop and click Personalization.
• Select Lock Screen, then Click on Screen time out settings.
• Change the required time in the drop down under Screen.
