Windows 10: Lost Wifi settings after new update

Just updated to the latest version of Windows but now I can’t open wifi settings. Shows on bar at bottom but not present when I click on it

New Wifi default to metered

Yes, it is a Registry entry. See the procedure in my post #74 in another TenForums thread. {in case it is of interest, my post #73 in that thread lists the steps I take to avoid all automatic Windows updates}

By making that change, every new WiFi network will, by default, be set as metered. You will still be able to change that back to non-metered for a specific WiFi network in the normal manner.

Is it possible to set up a new manual wifi connection from the command line?

I'm trying to work out a solution to set up ad-hock wifi connections in Windows 8.1 based on the suggestions in a post on Micsrosoft's answers site. Is there any way to do the first few steps:

• go to "Network and Sharing Center"
  
• click "Set up a new connection or network"
  
• double click "Manually connect to a wireless network"
  
• enter the SSID of the ad-hoc network (as shown by "netsh wlan show networks") into the "Network name" field
  
• configure security settings accordingly
  
• uncheck "Start this connection automatically" (important)
  

...without using the windows dialogs?

 

wifi setting lost

i have lost my wifi setting and taskbar icon, nothing is showing related wireless. i am using only ethernet connection i have tried driver updates and system restore but nothing is working. here is screen shoot. plz suggest me solution
