Lots of DATA being used by svchost.exe (netsvcs)

    Hi,

After solving a lot driver issues and lagging issues, I got a stable (at least in terms of speed) Windows 10. However, whenever I connect the PC to Internet, svchost.exe started using almost whole speed.

It not just slow down what I wanted to do but also wastes my limited data (yeah, no unlimited pack!). So, can someone help me to stop these processes to use Internet?

    Please help me, thank you!

    :)

Multiple instances are running for Svchost.exe in Windows 10 task manager

I have been having %100 disk activity that nearly freezes the machine for minutes+ for some time now (several months) and after looking over tasks running with procexp.exe I discovered multiple instances of svchost.exe that have identical command lines.
I'm convinced that this is a problem if not the problem. Any ideas how to fix this?

    windows store svchost.exe

I stopped the BITS service (probably redundant) because I got sick of my bandwidth being eaten by svchost.exe (netsvcs mostly). My issue is that It seems like opening the store app or trying to download a small app opens also seems to trigger svchost.exe
(netsvcs), so I can't download a couple Mb of data unless I spend forever waiting for whatever it's doing.

Am I on the right track to what's triggering svchost.exe? Is there any way I can get around this?

    Thanks,

    Enoch

By the way, I don't think it was due to Windows Update because I had recently updated it and still svchost.exe was using data connection. I had also disabled most of the things in Privacy option.

Also, can you tell me- what else in Windows uses svchost.exe for Internet uses? (it maybe so many but at least let me know the name of programs/services you know). *Smile

Be careful of what you remove. Black Viper now has a page on Windows 10 as far as services go. You can Google to find it.

I just disabled it and will enable it back when I wanted to update. By the way, did you meant blackviper. com? Should I follow what is written in that website? Actually, I don't know about it, so try to explain me. *Smile

Don't disable Windows updates! The chance of 0-day exploits is very high now!

    Instead fix the actual problem:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Settings - Update & security - Windows Update - Advanced options - Choose how updates are delivered
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Updates from more than one place
    (o) OFF

    (o) PCs on my local network
( ) PCs on my local network, and PCs on the Internet
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have turned off the option- Updates from more than one place. Still it takes too much data. By the way, BITS automatically restarted whenever I restart my PC. And I'll keep my PC up-to-date, than can I keep it disabled when I don't wanted it to use Internet?

Then you need to turn store and metro app updates off. I will post soon an easy to use batch file to turn some underlying services off

Store and Metro App updates off?

By the way, I don't use Store and the apps. Usually, I use it for browsing, MS Word, gaming, watching movies and hearing songs. *Smile

And maybe, soon I'll get broadband connection with unlimited usage, so I'll enable BITS at that time and leave it as it is. *Biggrin

You may disable BITS by going to Task Manager > Services > BITS > *Right Click* > Stop. However, it'll automatically start running whenever you restart your computer and connect to the Internet.

You can search for any tutorial to disable it permanently, but try to keep your PC up-to-date because it still needs many improvements. *Smile
