Windows 10: Loudspeakers

recently I had to buy a new PC. I don't usually have my speakers on all the time and I hadn't really noticed that notifications were without sounds. This became progressively worse e,g, when trying to make a Skype connection. It eventually resulted in my being unable to hear SOME of my contacts. Could this be on account of my loudspeakers being quite old? I don't know how old, they came with a second hand PC which had started life with Vista but may have been used on other PCs before Vista. They are Realtek Active 85. Might I be asking for trouble by continuing to use them? I took the PC back to the vendor, they suggested they would replace the PC and encouraged me to also buy new speakers. I declined and accepted a refund. I've now ordered a new PC different make, different vendor but am reluctant to use the speakers, perhaps like me they might be considered too old. Any advice would be welcomed. I'm composing this on my wife's tablet, whether it will be accepted is anyone's guess.

6303 Classic ----The Loudspeaker

I need to use the navigation key to go to a shortcut to select a loudspeaker! It vcan be done but Loudspeaker is not listed in the shortvut menu?

The very poor instruction book that comes with the phone shows Loudspeaker in the index as P19 but the only reference there is not to switctch it on in case it will be too loud!!

Thanks for the answer but I mean, if the loudspeaker grill is blocked when playing music...especially when I'm holding the phone at the same time (Because the loudspeaker is situated at the back of the phone). Will the loudspeaker break?
