Low format and partition Hard disk to be use in MacBook

    Hello

Trying to help my daughter with her Macbook hard disk problem

Can I low /repair, low format and partition a drive with my PC then use it in a Macbook? If so how do I proceed?

  2. How to delete Win8.1 from non-boot hd (running Win10)?

I suggested Partition Wizard if you didn't want to wipe the drive to get it cleanest using

    Diskpart Clean Command
and then create a new partition in Disk management for F.

Create and format a hard disk partition - Windows Help

Using Partition Wizard to delete the partitions only can leave code on the drive since it doesn't clear the partition table or boot code like a quick wipe.

bought a 500gb external drive. attached to usb , shows in disc management will not allow format

    Hi Trebor,

Formatting a hard drive can be done from the File Explorer and right-click the hard disk or through disk management. You may not be able to format the hard drive is if there's no partition existing (RAW) or no unallocated disk space.

Check the File Explorer and right-click the hard drive if it's showing Format or Quick Format. Additionally, you can check this
link on how to create and format a hard disk partition. It can still apply to Windows 10.

Feel free to post back if you need further help.

    Macs use a different filesystem.

    Paragon might have something.

Paragon Hard Disk Manager (HDM) supports HFS+

Hard Disk Manager for Windows Paragon Software Group

Convert NTFS volumes to HFS+ and vice versa - Paragon NTFS-HFS Converter

Write HFS+ volumes in Windows - Paragon HFS+ for Windows

Internal or external drive? HFS+ is the MacOS native format, exFAT is fully supported on both Macs and Windows so it's the best choice for an external HDD to be used on both.
