  1. Low read speed via USB 3.0 external SSD

Why is my external SSD have quite low read speeds when loading a video game? I watch in task manager, reading speed is terrible and game loading takes forever. My motherboard supports 3.0 USB and ssd plugged into that port. I also enabled "better performance" via device manager > discs policy. I use Windows 10 20H2My ssd also have latest firmware from ssd manager software. Thanks in advance

    :)

  2. Increase the read / write speed of an external hard drive

The speed of read/write mainly depends on the hardware and external hard disk itself. For example in case if you use SSD with USB-3 it would have greater speed.

Do you have any specific suggestion on improving the speed?

Windows team are working to make sure performance as one of key quality of factor is improving in all aspects of Windows 10.

  3. New External SSD, Low Read/Write

Okay so, I just got a brand new Samsung 860 EVO SSD today. I decided to go with an external setup as it requires less hassle, and while I don't expect the fastest performance in doing so, I am getting absolutely ABYSMAL speeds. Not even half of the Seq Read/Write of my 4 year old HDD(The Random Read/Write speeds are better on the new SSD yet still awful). I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, as I should be getting FAR better performance than this. I have already cloned and set the new SSD as the default storage. I can format and re-clone if I have to, but it took almost 3 hours and I'd rather avoid that if possible.

It is in a SATA III enclosure, and connected to a USB 3.0 Port.

Attached is two speed tests. The first is the SSD, and the second is the internal HDD.(Also, ignore the Sailor Moon wallpaper, I was too lazy to crop...Sorry xD)

Low read speed via USB 3.0 external SSD

UX31A low transfer speed via USB 3.0

Hi dear friends, mostly kind friends on any forums.
I'm having issues with this laptop transferring files to external HDD 8 TB which on desktop PCs gives me transfer of up to 100-120 MB/s constantly.
On laptop is not HDD it's some sort of an SSD so that should not be an issue.
Ofc is not issue with external HDD since it gives me max speed.
All the drivers are installed I suppose okay (device manager pics).
There are no official drivers on website for laptop,so only W10 drivers are installed.
But 21MB/s is not even USB 2.0 transffer rate.
So can anyone help me resolve this issue and get max speed over this usb 3.0?
