  1. Low Space on EFI Partition in Dual Boot System HP15, Windows 11 pro and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Hello, I encountered another problem. I have a dual boot system with Ubuntu and Windows. Recently, I did a Windows update that didn’t complete—it got stuck on "Update underway, don’t turn off your device." So, I performed a hard shutdown. After that, I faced some boot issues, but I was able to fix them with help from the community. Thanks for that! Now, the issue is that when I boot into Ubuntu, it shows low space on the EFI partition. When I examine it, I see that HP is using 60%, Microsoft is using 30%, and so on. The EFI partition is 100 MB in size links to images are below. However, when I

  2. How to re-install windows when I have a dual boot system and Ubuntu for the other partition.

Recently my windows partition broke and I am not able to boot into windows. I spoke with some techs and the only option I have is to reinstall windows 11 using a flash drive.

Now, I will be reinstalling windows soon, is it safe to simply follow the usual installation steps or are there any different steps for dual boot systems? Secondly, will my Ubuntu partition be affected by the new installation? I am hoping that with the new windows installation, my Ubuntu system remains unaffected.

  3. How can I restore the Windows bootloader after reinstalling Ubuntu in a dual-boot setup on separate SSDs?

Encountered issues in a dual-boot configuration with Ubuntu 23.10 and Kali Linux installed on a 512 GB SSD (with Ubuntu allocated a larger partition). Windows was on a separate 1 TB SSD, consisting of two partitions - one of 150 GB for the C drive and another of the remaining 850 GB for mass storage. While using the Kali bootloader, a hard shutdown caused Ubuntu to stop booting. To resolve this, I reinstalled Ubuntu, leading to the erasure of the dual-boot setup. Subsequently, Windows refuses to boot.

In my troubleshooting efforts, I attempted various solutions, including using bootrec commands and recreating the EFI partition. The bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot commands succeeded, but the bootrec /rebuildbcd command failed with the error "The requested system device cannot be identified due to multiple indistinguishable devices potentially matching the identification criteria."

Seeking assistance, I explored advice from multiple articles, such as mounting the EFI partition, but it was not visible in diskpart. Following a suggestion from ChatGPT, I deleted the Windows recovery partition and created a new EFI partition, but uncertainties arose after that step.

Additionally, on the 1 TB SSD, there were two partitions - one of 150 GB for the C drive and another of the remaining 850 GB for mass storage. While there might have been smaller partitions, none were created by me.

Currently, I'm seeking guidance on how to effectively restore the Windows bootloader, resolve the booting issues, and establish a stable dual-boot configuration with Ubuntu and Windows. Any assistance or step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Ubuntu and several Windows partition is not detected in Windows Disk Management | Dual Booting

I have a problem regarding dual-boot installation of Ubuntu. I'm not very familiar on dual-booting but I follow several turtorial to do it. During installation of Ubuntu as dual-boot, I did not choose the option of manually partition, instead i choose the automatically partition and resize it to match the amount of unallocated storage. After installation, it works perfectly fine for both windows and ubuntu. However I found that my Ubuntu and several partition is not detected in Disk Management.

    The steps for installation:

    • Shrink local disk E: (HDD) for unallocated space
    • Bitlocker is disabled
    • Disabled secure boot and fast startup
    • Boot from UEFI USB Ubuntu
    • Install alongside Windows Boot Manager
    • Partition: choose the default installation instead of manually partition (Using manual partition did not detect unallocated space)
    I have 2 storage, SSD (Windows/ Disk 1) and HDD (Several Windows programs and data/ Disk 0). The HDD storage has several partition;

    • Local Disk D: 510.82 GB for some applications
    • Local Disk E: 225.37 GB for data
    • Unallocated: ~195 GB
Even though it works perfectly fine, I'm afraid it will cause issues in the near future, and i want my linux partition and windows data partition to be shown in disk management. Can you please help me on this issue. It also shows Local Disk D and E which has windows applications and data to have red x indicator in disk management.

My idea: my current solution is probably to delete volume for Local Disk D and E to delete Ubuntu and delete several data I have in windows to reinstall ubuntu back using manually partition. However a second opinion or more can be my consideration to not delete my file in windows.

    Thank you for your attention
