Windows 10: Lumia 640

I power up my old lumia 640 because I need the phone for emergency but I am stuck at recovery key. I tried to reset the phone but I can not turn off reset protection despite getting to my correct microsoftaccount.Some tutorial online also suggest to remove device and I will get a recovery key. and yet, I remove the device from my account. but I wasn't given a recovery key.. Please help, it's my spare phone and I have no means to buy a new phone yet

If the issue still persists I suggest you to check if you have new software available for your phone do the following:

Lumia with Windows 10:

• Go to Settings > Update & security >
  Phone update and tap Check for updates.

• If that doesn't work, try and restoring your phone to
  Factory Default settings

 

Upgrade Lumia 640 to Windows 10?

I suggest you look again at the first list, specifically at the 4th item from the left.
