M.2NVMe SSDs and hard Drives not recognized as bootable devices!

This is a new build on ASUS z690-Creator ProArt WiFi motherboard with BIOS Ver. 0702. CPU is Intel i9-12900kf and the drive I want to use for Windows 11 Pro OS is Samsung 1TB 980 Pro M.2 NVME. Also installed on Motherboard is a 2TB M.2NVME Samsung 980 Pro, and two 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2NVMe SSDs. In the ASUS BIOS under "Boot Menu" is says: "The system cannot find any bootable devices". Under "Boot Priority" is says: "Choose one and drag the items." Then listed under "Storage Information" my four M.2NVMe drives and one other hard drives are listed. When I left click on any of these drives

  2. Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

M.2 SSD no longer being recognized

Is the M.2 disk recognized on BIOS?
If it isn't, it's probably a hardware problem and you should as for a new in warranty.

If it's recognized on BIOS it's probably a corrupted software.
Boot from a Win 10 installation disk, launch a cmd window (Shift+F10) and type:
    diskpart
list volume (take note of the letter assigned to your windows in the M.2 drive)
    exit
sfc /scannow /offwindir=X:\windows /offbootdir=X:\ (replace X with the drive letter found with list volume)

My recommendation is to create a utilities disk Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk

    Hi Philip,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that the external hard drive is not recognized by the PC. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.
It would be great if you can answer these questions to assist you in a better way.

    • Did you try connecting the Hardrive to different USB Port?
    • Does the Hardrive get detected if you try connecting it to a different PC?
    • Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?

I suggest you refer and follow the steps mentioned in the KB article and check if that resolves the issueError:
