Windows 10: Machine Crash to force Co-Pilot installation.

Working away, Windows 10, carefully maintained. I'm running multiple design programs and some Microsoft *apps* chokes reflexively at the level of linguistic abusiveness designed primarily to advertise to me. Don't turn machine off often, don't do auto updates - learned the hard way with Microsoft - doesn't pay to be an early adopter. Suddenly everything tanks. exception errors on every program running as far as I can see. Machine blacks. 3 attempts to get it to reboot, then it boots. BUT I now have a 3 gigs less memory and a copilot icon in my taskbar.Seems my machine is not allowed to b

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Northbridge filter pilot not installing

Hi. I'm reinstalling everything in my computer total format. I seen that when i install the chipset driver the NorthBridge filter pilot wont install wether I install from original CD or from pilots downloaded from the Asus website. Is there any reason for that?

 

Installing a Virtual Machine in Windows 10

Step #1 is to decide which virtual machine software you wish to install.

The three most popular choices are:

• VirtualBox (from Oracle)
• VMWare Workstation Player (from VMWare); and
• Hyper-V (from Microsoft)

Once you've made your choice you can find detailed, illustrated instructions for installing each one on the internet.

As a personal suggestion: You might find it easier to use either VirtualBox or VMWare Workstation Player. Hyper-V is more complicated to setup.

Between VirtualBox and VMWare, I think you'll find VirtualBox more user-friendly, and it has the advantage of allowing you to create checkpoints - backups of your virtual machine - whereas to do that in VMWare you'll need to upgrade to their (expensive!)
paid version.
