Windows 10: Macrium 7 - cannot make ISO image without physical DVD

Windows 10 Upgrade and WinBook TW100 Windows 8.1 tablet... three things to watch out for...

OK... glad you found the way into the UEFI ("BIOS") setup in the

firmware.

I used a 1 TB USB hard drive to do my system backup, then burned the Macrium backup archive onto a DVD for safe storage in my closet.

You should be able to make a donor image from your new

Winbook using Macrium, make a boot/recovery DVD in Macrium,

plug in a USB DVD drive, boot to it from the UEFI and then use the

donor image to un-brick the "unfortunate victim" (LOL) of the

Windows 10 upgrade.

Macrium is nice in that it gives you a couple choices for your

bootable recovery media - if I recall correctly, one of the options

is for a bootable Linux DVD that can restore from Macrium image

files.

 

My last attempt to fix Windows 10 Anniversary Update

I have one system (Fujitsu Laptop) that will not Upgrade through the normal process...This has been the case since

Windows 7...What I found was that the only way to upgrade the Fujitsu was to download the ISO image and make a DVD and run the ISO image from a DVD...When I do it that way it works and will upgrade. (An ISO on a USB stick does not work)...

If you haven't tried this already I would download the ISO image for Anniversary and burn it to DVD and run it from that...If you don't have a DVD player built in try to use an external USB DVD player....

I know that it seemed impossible to upgrade my Fujitsu Laptop but once I downloaded the ISO and burned the image to DVD the upgrade proceeded without issues...

 

Of course, self respecting geeks only ever do that as a last resort - lol.

simply use the dropdown -- you've got two values --physical DVD drive prompt or create iso image !!!!!!!
Not intuitive so I'm sure I wasn't the only person who missed it first time around.

Q.E.D !!!!!! (not Quod erat Demonstrandum - but Quite Easily Done !!).

Blimey, I have not heard that QED joke for years. I first heard it over 40 years ago from my Latin teacher! I am impressed you know this as English is not your first language, and even most Envlish speakers probably have never heard it - LOL.

went to an old Jesuit Catholic school -- lot of Latin around in those days --actually the education I got was First class -- got me into Manchester Uni and also PhD at Imperial College Kensington U.K -- not sure if anywhere in the world these days if Schools are anything like as good -- I know there's modern technology but somehow something has been lost --if technology fails I doubt if most young ones today would have any idea of how to go back to basics -- i.e Read a map when Sat nav fails etc.

A guy recently was having problem adding a person from one photo against backdrop of another. I suggested he printed both photos, used scissors to cut person and glue to other (and rescan) and he replied I am trying to "cut and paste". I replied - where do you think term "cut and paste" came from - LOL!

Hell, I could even still use my slide rule if I had to!

My first one of those was actually a RUSSIAN (Old USSR days) Circular one -- still works a treat -- I used it on a Train from York to London (Kings X) recently just for fun -- the looks I got !!! but some were curious !!!





Beats "farcebook", "Snaps--t" or whatever for creating interest and REAL conversation to actual LIVE HUMANS !!!!
