    Hi,

This morning, I tried to use Reflect to clone my HDD to an NVME. The clone attempt failed for some XML reason. After I clicked, OK, my HDD was empty:

Only one file appeared on the drive, a log:

I'm at a loss here and trying not to freak out. I did see a thread from a few months ago with a similar problem, but that seemed to be a partition issue. All my stuff is just gone. I would, for obvious reasons, like to get it back, Thanks.

  2. Cloning an external HDD

Doing a clean Install while switching hard drive is always recommend due to the fact that the hardware configuration of each PC is different.

What I suggest is to Clone the other data partitions except C:

Use Macrium reflect a freeware for this.

If you can connect both drives to your PC at the same time and the SSD is of the same or greater size to the HDD, then you can use the free version of Macrium Reflect to clone the HDD onto the SSD . . .

Macrium Reflect Clone Attempt Wiped My HDD

Attempted cloning a WD 8TB usb hard drive to another WD 8TB usb hard drive using Macrium Reflect.

    Hi DennisCPA

i don't know of a maximum size (nor can i find it mentioned), largest i have cloned is 4TB.

when i last had a clone fail, whilst checking connections of the destination drive i put it in a different port and it worked (i didn't investigate further), suggestion, check destination drive connections or try a different port

you may get a better solution if you ask in the Macrium reflect forums
