Windows 10: Macrium Reflect Free "Not Responding" for over an hour when verifying.

I created a system image backup with Macrium Reflect Free, and then went to verify the image. It's been over an hour, and the "Verify Image" tab is still stuck on "Not Responding" with 0% completed. Is this normal?

Thanks. Coming from you, I know I can trust this recommendation. I miss those days at work with Ghost/Altiris. Teachers used to complain about students screwing up the computers and ask me to lock them down. My answer was, don't need to. I will reimage them.
In a half hour, everything back as it was. ... and by the way, "take ownership of your classroom. You can know what they are doing. Pay attention." Kept me employed, though.

Not in my experience, but i usually clone to another drive rather than image the disc. I've been using Macrium Reflect Free for years without any issues but imaging is not my 'thing'.

Have you checked the HDD containing the image for errors?

 

I wound up turning off my computer (having to switch off the external drive the images are on in order for the computer to be able to shut down), starting it back up, and then was able to verify the image using Macrium.
Does the fact that I forcibly turned off the external drive with the images (1 from Windows and 1 from Macrium) on it mean that the images are now suspect, or should they be trustworthy, especially considering that Macrium verified the image?

 

In your current position, i would consider running chkdsk /f command followed by sfc /scannow command. These will check for errors & should fix them. Having said that, i would also re-image that drive if it were me.

On an external drive you can of course use the 'right-click'>'properties'>'tools'>'check'>option

 

I ran CHKDSK on the drive through an elevated command prompt, and also used "'right-click'>'properties'>'tools'>'check'". Both times, it came back with no errors. I don't think sfc /scannow is necessary, as I didn't force shut down my main C drive, just the external backup drive. I created another Macrium image just in case.
