Windows 10: Made a mess of files, two users may have combined desktop, applications are confused.

Info: Windows 10 Pro, PC a family member built of old parts. I am in a real pickle. As far as I can tell, two users on our home computer now share a desktop folder and the primary user's old document's folder is buried within a onedrive folder, so applications do not access their files there. Instead they access a new documents folder that seems to belong to both users, but is only accessible by the secondary user and not the primary. The primary "pinned" desktop and documents folder that are shared between multiple users are directly in "this pc" which I know can't be right. The desktop and

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Current active users that are friends

The other reason I suggested this is that users can add characters to their username that are not alphanumeric (e.g. user*). This confuses things somewhat when looking at the list.

 

Key combinations confusion

It's possible to assign actions to key combinations in all sorts of places (Settings, PowerToys, individual applications, etc), but if I want to change something I can't always remember where I set a particular combination. Is there a central place I can list all the definitions and (hopefully) redefine them?
