Windows 10: Mail app crashes in settings when clicking either 'Notifications', 'Focused Inbox', or 'Help'

I just purchased this computer two days ago, HP Spectre x 360 with the following specs:Edition Windows 10 Home Version 20H2 Installed on ‎6/‎20/‎2021 OS build 19042.1081 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0 As its new it has a fresh install of Windows 10. I have applied all windows updates out of the box as well. When going into settings in the mail app specifically Notifications, Focused Inbox, Help the app crashes.I've currently tried the following with no luck:- resetting mail app through both settings and powershell- uninstalling / reinstalling mail app-

Solution to Mail App crashing when trying to disable focused inbox

I've seen a few others have had the same problem as I with Windows 10 Mail App crashing when trying to enable/disable focused inbox. The few solutions posted suggesting uninstalling and reinstalling did not work for me. Here is what I have found to work
and is very repeatable.

With laptop in Tablet mode ON the Mail App will not crash when you go to Settings => Focused inbox.

With laptop in Tablet mode OFF the Mail App will crash when going to settings => Focused inbox.

My new HP Spectre x360 has the Mail App crashing problem with Windows 10 v1903. A much older HP Envy, without touchscreen, does not have the problem with the Mail App crashing.

Hi Larry,

To turn off the Focused & other feature in the Mail app, please follow the steps below:

• Open your Mail app
• Click on the Settings icon (looks like a gear).
• Click Options, and search for the layout section.
• Under layout, find Focused Inbox. Select Don't sort messages and then hit
  Save.
