Windows 10: Mail app in Windows 10, Error Code 0x800b0101 when try to add a yahoo email account

Title question tells what trouble is happening. I tried to choose to add a Yahoo account to the Mail app of Windows 10. Briefly, a Yahoo signin screen came up, and then a different box came up saying "We can't connect to the service you need right now......." ; then later after clicking through one or two more dialogs, a little box told "Error Code: 0x800b0101".I can visit Yahoo just fine through a web browser, and I can sign in if I want. Just is not happening through attempt to add an account into Mail app.What does this mean? What can I do? note: author, g.j. on behalf of m.s. a

I went this route and added passwords for yahoo mail. I might try this method above to get gmail to buck up! *Tongue

@Bastet, this is probably what you were referring to the whole time.


YAHOO MAIL FIX
2FA needs to be enabled which it already was and just follow these steps below.

1. In yahoo mails account security, click on manage app passwords.




2. After selecting other app and entering the new app name in the text box




3. Now, in Windows 10 mail app, add this type of account.




4. In Windows 10 mail app, enter your details and the password generated by step 2.




Fully functional mail app again.



GMAIL FIX

Now similar steps to setting up Gmail. Here I'll only go through the Gmail steps as Windows Mail App setup is the exact same.

Yes, once 2-factor authentication is enabled you should then create the app specific password & enter it instead of the account password.

When using the mail app in:
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
OS Version: 10.0.18362 N/A Build 18362

I'm getting the error code:
error 0x8007042b

I've disabled anti-virus but that didn't work.

What I'm trying to do is:

1. Go to the settings (the cog wheel in the app)
2. Manage accounts
3. + add account
4. and choose Yahoo
5. this gives the error: error 0x8007042b

I've 4 other mail accounts so resetting the app I haven't tried. Any other way around this issue?
