New version Of Mail & Calendar App available from Windows 10 Store
You may find when you to Store that it is ready to be downloaded
A notice may come up to close it and download it again
That is what I did and it went in ok

  2. Windows 10 Mail & Calendar will not open

Original Title: Windows 10 Mail & Calendar

Have been using windows 10 mail & calendar for some months, then one day last week mail will not open. I follow the advice and execute a code string in "Run as Administrator". The mail and calendar icon disappear. I try to reinstall Mail & Calendar from
the store but it says already installed. What's up?

Sync Windows 10 Calendar App, Outlook and iPhone/iPad calendar

I enter calendar information from my iPhone, iPad, and computer-mostly using the Windows 10 Mail & Calendar app. How do I sync these so they all have the same information? Or should I scrape use of the new Windows 10 Mail & Calendar app and interface
the other sources with Outlook? I want to be able to print a calendar from Windows 10 Mail & Calendar app or Outlook. HELP!!!!

  5. It failed for me with some error code and MS are working on it. I then tried again and it worked. But it borked the apps for all other users accounts on my PC. The apps still worked on mine ok but not for my wife or son. Total garbage from MS. system restore came to the rescue, I tried the update again and it went through first time. As a result the apps were OK and working for all users. It seems if a native app update fails , even if subsequent attempt then works, for any reason it will break the app for other user accounts.

third party apps, never ever a problem but the MS ones are so prone to going wrong. It's getting tiresome hand holding this OS. Perhaps MS should forget about trying to do a store on desktop OS, it's geared for mobiles and just doesn't play nice in a serious desktop environment. I'm not a big fan of Apple but maybe they should take a long look at how they manage to do an App Store because they know how to do it. Sorry I'm just ranting a bit, I want to like Windows 10 but there is much to annoy me. It's not going to change but all this App stuff has made the OS worse. If I want apps I will use my iPhone for that kind of stuff. I don't need my serious desktop computer trying to be some kind of hybrid PC, mobile device. If they want to do an App Store and force the native apps they need to get it right

To be honest.. while I got the update I don't use either app. I use eM Client and another calendar tool.
    This: Rainlendar
eM Client | Best Email Client for Windows 10, 8, 7, XP

Both are fee and far better than the MS apps. IMO

  7. Yeah, you are right. I actually use outlook myself but I do like the apps for the live tiles. Just have a quick glance, see if anything is in the calendar. But I guess it's the principle, I find the app updates for the native ones unreliable. I have had problems with photos, calendar, mail, calculator, people, maps and one note relating to app updates. Twice now I had to recreate user accounts for my wife and son to get those apps working again for them. Going forward I will always create a restore point prior to do any native app or MS Store update as system restore is much quicker than having to delete and re create user accounts (set everything back up how they like).

it seems it's not an uncommon issue, quite a lot of people end up with non working native apps. Many probably don't realise why the apps stop launching. It's just my experience seems to point to when those apps attempt to update. I am sorry guys, it's not good to rant. I love Windows 10 deep down, it looks great but the bugs, glitches test my patience a bit. It's a new OS I know but it feels a bit rushed - I guess I am used to Windows 7, I miss it's simplicity and reliability. No nasty surprises there. I think Windows 10 will be fantastic but it will take a long time. Here and now it's just plain frustrating

I understand how you feel and I agree. When apps came out with 8 I used only the games, news and avoided the rest. At best they were hit and miss and that included the ones from MS.
