  1. Mail for Windows 10 fail to start

    Hi,

I have a PC running Windows 10, set up for two users. I am the Administrator, my husband is a User.

Mail for Windows 10 works for my husband when he is logged in to his account, but when I am logged in to my account Mail fails to start. This is a recent issue - it used to work fine, but I had issues with HxTsr stopping and I was advised to uninstall Mail and download the latest version from Microsoft store, which I did and it has work fine for while. Now the reliability history is giving the following messages:

I don't understand this because I thought Outlook and mail for Windows 10 were two different applications, and I am not trying to start Outlook as such, only Mail from the Start menu. What happens when I select Mail is that I get the blue screen with the envelope, and then it just closes and returns me to desktop.

I have tried rebooting, but the same this happens.

Is anyone able to help me?

    Crissy

    :)

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Mail for Windows 10 fail to start :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

  3. Windows 10 fails to update

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

Mail for Windows 10 fail to start

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
