  1. Mail/Outlook app no longer syncs in background = No desktop notifications

I've been having Mail app notification issues not arriving instantly in the last couple of days. It feels like the Mail app is connecting/disconnecting sporadically, rendering the syncing process unstable it shows me notifications on and off overtime, sometimes I get notifications hours late!. That caused me to miss so many important personal and business emails that I need to know about the second they arrive.Today, I finally had the time to investigate this issue and do some tests, and I found out about a couple of things that may be related to the issue:- If Mail app is open, I see HxOutl

    Mail app not receiving notifications

    Hi Dave,

It seems that the Mail app is not running in the background. To show the app in the "Notifications & Actions" settings page, we suggest running it in the background. To do so, please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + i to open Settings, then select
      Privacy
      .
    • In the left pane, select Background apps.
    • Under Let apps run in the background, toggle the switch to turn on or off the background apps.
    • Once you're done, you may now turn on the Mail app in the "Notifications & Actions" settings page to get notifications.

Feel free to post back with the result for further assistance.

  3. Mail App Not Listed in Background Apps

I think it's a bad thing. And the thing is, in Window 8.1, you did NOT have to keep the mail app opened and running to get email notifications and live tile updates. In Windows 8.1, the mail app was listed with the Background Apps. In Windows 10, that's
not the case - the Mail app does not appear in Background Apps so you have to have it opened and minimized to the taskbar to get notifications and keep the live tile updated. Not sure if this is a bug or by design. I know that with Outlook, you have to have
it running to get email notifications, but Outlook is a "Desktop" application, so that's to be expected. Windows 10 Mail is a native Windows Store "Modern/Metro" app, so you should not have to keep in open - just like with the Windows Store Facebook app -
I get notifications and live tile updates just fine when the app is closed because it runs in the background.

  4. Mail/Outlook app no longer syncs in background = No desktop notifications

Grouped Mail Accounts No Longer Have Notifications, Accounts Shown as 'via Outlook Calendar' on Notifications & Actions

    Installed Software and Versions

    • Hardware: Alcatel Idol 4S
    • Windows 10 Mobile OS Build: 10.0.15063.297
    • Outlook Mail and Outlook Calendar 17.8126.42378.0

After updating to the Windows 10 Mobile OS build above, all of my mail accounts (setup for Outlook, Gmail, and Exchange) no longer show a notification at all in the Notifications screen. They used to show up in the group for Outlook Mail, but now they show
up in Notifications & Actions (where you can toggle notifications on and off) as something like 'Gmail (via Oultook Calendar)'. However, Gmail only has it set to sync e-mail, not calendar. There is still an Outlook Mail notification item, but nothing is being
    shown in there.
