Windows 10: MailTo Link Opening Indefinitely

I had a really annoying issue of Microsoft Outlook opening up indefinitely, a new instance ever few seconds, making my computer mostly useless.I narrowed down the issue to "MailTo" links opening up over and over again for no apparent reason. Meaning I wasn't actively clicking on anything that would prompt a "MailTo" link to be activating and attempting to open an appropriate program.So I went into Chrome and went to handlers. I turned them all off. Now once I get into windows I get a "OpenWith" pop-up name in Task Manager, "PickanApp" on the desktop window asking me what program I want to op

Mailto: in Browsers not working


Hi, I have installed Pegasus mail, and during the installation, accepted the option to set it as the default mailto client.
I also set it as the default from an Open with prompt.

I can confirm that clicking on email links opens Pegasus, and that the mailto entry as per my screenshot shows Pegasus.

I installed Pegasus at a custom location (in the same folder as Thunderbird's installation folder).

So there appears to be no fundamental conflict with Win 10.

This might suggest some other issue with yours which is affecting mailto. You mentioned you have noticed some other problems- could you list them or suggest any that could possibly be related?

We are not supposed to recommend any mailto links. It seems that the mailto link which you are trying to open might be corrupt. I suggest you to try with other mailto links and check if it helps.

To check if the default email client is working follow the below steps.

1. Create a Document then right click and then select
Send to.

2. Then click on the mail recipient and check the default mail client.
