    I have a Thinkpad with 2 hard drives. The first one has W10 on it but is stuck in a boot loop and the drive itself is noisy so I’m pretty sure it took a hit at some point.

    There is a 2nd hdd in the laptop and it is empty. Is it possible to restore an image of the 1st drive onto the 2nd drive?

    I can see the 2nd drive listed in the diskutil command line utility but not on the System Restore program (only seeing CMain HDD died.. can I restore a previous image to the 2nd hard drive in my laptop? :)

    Can I restore an SSD image to a normal hard drive disk

    I believe you can do that with Acronis True Image. I used the free version from Western Digital to clone a laptop drive over to a larger laptop drive.

    How do I restore a system image to a NEW hard drive?

    I have a failing HDD in my laptop, so I need to replace it, but it's the drive with the OS on.

    I created a system image, and saved it to the laptop's 2nd HDD.

    I now have a 3rd HDD, a new one to replace the 1st one. I've plugged it in using an external casing.

    How do I use the system image to put my OS onto the new, 3rd HDD?

    Every time I try to restore, it just wants to put it back on the 1st, failing, HDD.

    I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.
