Windows 10: Make Windows switch audio to headset when I turn them on, and back to speakers when I turn...

Often this happens, but not always and I'm not sure why or how to control it: I want it so that Windows will automatically switch audio to my Bluetooth headset when I turn it on and then automatically switch back to the main speakers when I turn off the headset. Like I said, it often works exactly like this, but then something changes no idea what, and I have to manually select the audio out from the speaker icon to the right of Taskbar. That always works, it's just the automated switching that doesn't always happen. This is the standard behavior on all of our cell phones -- if music is play

Laptop Speakers & Wireless Headset not auto switching

I have the 14" Razer laptop and the Steelseries 7X. They're wireless through a USB dongle that I leave plugged into my laptop.

When I turn off and turn on my headset, the default playback device/option does not automatically switch over to the built-in laptop speakers, and vice versa. I turn off my headset holding the power button until it makes the indication sound. But on the control panel "playback devices" settings, it's still showing audio coming through my headset somehow (and listed as default device too) even though they're definitely turned off.

I don't know if this could be due to the USB dongle always being plugged in or something else mysterious going on. I know if I unplug my USB dongle then the audio immediately jumps back to the speakers, but it would be nice if it worked with it always in there for convenience sake.

Thanks for the response.

I downloaded the cab file, expanded it, and tried to update the driver. It said that I already had the best drivers for the device.

However, I also noticed the option to pick a driver from the already certified list. So just for kicks, I went back to the old(er) generic driver, installed that and rebooted the laptop.

Now the 2 devices work seamlessly when I switch from one to the other.

I think I spoke too soon.

After leaving the headset with the current drivers and switching the laptop speaker/microphone to the generic drivers, everything worked for some time. I could attach/detach the headset and the audio would switch from one device to another.

However, after sometime this stopped working. Once I attach the headphone, I can hear the audio perfectly. But disconnecting it does not switch the sound back to the speaker.

Thanks for the quick reply. Indeed I have the firmware version v200.21.118 and I have seen the Mute option when a call comes up. I immediately tested your suggestion, but it turnes out, it is not what I was looking for, for multiple reasons:

• When pressed, the sound is muted in both the phone speaker as well as in the headset.
• You need to perform an action before every call to enable the function, which is annoying.
• There is still sound coming from the phone speaker.

Maybe I haven't specified my question properly, so to be as clear as possible: is there a way to have all the sound my phone makes (key strokes, ringtones, music) be played through the speakers of the headset
and at the same time have the phone speaker muted?
