Windows 10: Making Google Maps the default map app on windows 10

How can I make Google Maps the default map app on windows 10? I have it downloaded and the icon on my desktop. The file location is Under Google as C:\Program Files x86\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome_proxy.exeI have Win 10 Version 20H2 OS Build 19042.964. I s this doable? Thank you for any input you may have.

Maps App will not delete or open Google maps


I do not want to use windows/microsoft Maps I have been using Google Maps and have found I can crte an Icon & Tile that will pin to start but want to remove the Maps Tile or make it do the job.
So far I have failed to remove it or get it to open Google maps.
I cannot get into the Winapps folder either which is where the apps reside I think.

New Upgrade to win 10 is so far working faultlessly which is a surprise, other than the above..

 

search defaulting to Google maps

If I type anything on the search bar, it seems to add - 'Google maps search' to the end of everything.

For instance if I type:-

abc

the underlying suggestion shows

abc - Google Maps Search

and dumps me into Google Maps.

If anyone has any suggestion on how to get rid of this Google Maps default it would be much appreciated.

Have you tried changing the default map app from the Default Programs?

Follow the steps below to disable Windows Maps.

• Click the Start button.
• Type Default Programs then press Enter.
• Go to Maps, change the default map app to the one you like.

Please update us with the results.
