  1. Making the system disk case-sensitive

Windows 10 allows you to set NTFS to case-sensitive on a per-folder basis using setCaseSensitiveInfo (powershell command). Question is: Is it safe to do this for the whole system disk?

The reasoning is that although I don't care whether OS files are case-sensitive or not, there are so many different places on the disk where app files may reside, I'd rather just make everything case-sensitive and be done with it. In theory this could break things as it's possible the OS or an app could rely on filenames being case-insensitive.

Windows Phone Connector: Case Sensitive File System Incompatibility

Might I suggest using Disk Utility to make a disk image formatted as a non-case sensitive HFS+ partition? Then put the Connector in that disk image and run it from there. It's not the most elegant solution, but it could be a workaround for the time being.

I'm also assuming you've tried it on a non-case sensitive system to come to these conclusions? Or are errors being generated that point to the filesystem being the problem?

EDIT: By HFS+ partition, I mean the formatting option in Disk Utility called "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" You probably already know, but that's the option used on a normal install of OS X.

  3. Windows Phone Connector: Case Sensitive File System Incompatibility

Unless I've missed an announcement Microsoft's not said anything that makes known any future plans to make adjustments for the OS X file system and case sensitivity (that's not to say that they are not making any such plans, but that they are unknown).
Until an announcement is made this question might not be answerable.

Windows Phone Connector: Case Sensitive File System Incompatibility

Entegy is correct. If the Mac OS filesystem Windows Phone Connector is installed on is case sensitive, then the application does not properly function.

When started the menu bar updates at the top of the screen correctly, though many of the options under the menus do not work and the main window never launches.

I am a computer programmer and some of the cross platform development tools I use for my work make use of the case sensitive file system.

In any case, I remain optimistic this is a solvable problem and that the Connector and case sensitivity are not mutually exclusive.
