  2. Help with malware registry key

    Hello,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble removing the “DrearyCoroEconomics” registry key. Here are some steps you can try to remove malware from your Windows PC:

Use Windows Security to scan your PC. Windows Security is a powerful scanning tool that finds and removes malware from your PC.

    - Here’s how to use it in Windows 10 to scan your PC:

    1. Before you use Windows Defender Offline, make sure to save any open files and close apps and programs.
      1. Open your Windows Security settings.
      2. Select Virus & threat protection > Scan options.
      3. Select Windows Defender Offline scan, and then select Scan now.
      4. The Windows Defender Offline scan takes about 15 minutes to run, and then your PC will restart.

        - View the results of your scan:
        1. Open your Windows Security settings.
        2. Select Virus & threat protection > Protection history.
        3. The Windows Defender Offline scan will automatically detect and remove or quarantine malware.
If the above steps do not work, please let me know.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

  3. Windows Defender notification of malware detection

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping us posted and we appreciate your continued patience on this issue.

At this point, I suggest you to update the Windows Defender program and check if it helps.

To check for new Windows Defender definitions manually:

    • Open Windows Defender.
    • Click the arrow next to the Help button, and then click Check for updates. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Also, check if the detection is of the same malware file or not. Again, see if it is any specific program or a file you try to access which triggers the detection.

Additionally, view the log in Event Viewer to check if the malware is removed every time it is prompted.

To open the Event Viewer. To do so, follow the below steps.
    • Go to the Control Panel and choose to click on the
      Administrative Tools icon.
    • The above action will open up a new window of the Administrative Tools where you will see the
      Event Viewer.
You can view Windows Defender "Operational" events in Event Viewer under Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Windows Defender.

Kindly keep us posted, for us to be able to assist you further.

    Thank you.

Zeus trojan pop up disables computer..Windows Defender offline didn't work

    Hi there...

I have looked all over to find someone who has used Windows Defender offline to get rid of the scam Zeus trojan that pops up and completely disables my browser.

After reading the supposed solution to use Defender offline, I gave it a try.

I don't see anything caught by Defender. Will I know if the virus/malware is gone, or do I just have to wait and see if it pops up again?

It's really annoying to have to shut all windows down when this thing keeps coming up.

Thanks for any help anyone can give. I am on Windows 10 on a fairly new laptop. I am also wondering if I need a malware detecting program along with Defender.
