Malware triggers continuous UAC prompts, making the computer unusable until permission is...

I was looking at malware that attempts to execute itself as the Administrator, which triggers a UAC prompt. If you select 'No' or try to exit out, another UAC prompt for the same action is displayed. This happens continuously until the user grants the malware permission to run with elevated privileges.

It'd be awesome if there were a maximum number of UAC attempts that could be made by a malicious program, or at least a maximum in some time period. As it's currently implemented, the user is essentially forced to click 'Yes', since the computer is unusable until then (the UAC prompts take up the whole screen). Are there any plans to implement functionality that will prevent this type of thing from occurring?

  2. Program Permissions for Roommates

    Hi,

To address your concern with granting program permissions, we suggest the you perform these steps:

    • Go to Control Panel.
    • Under User Account and Family settings click on Add or remove user account.
    • Click on the user account you'd like to have changes with.
    • Under the user account click on Go to the main User Account page >
Make changes to your user account > Change security settings.
    • In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click
      OK.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

  3. Grant a specific application permanent UAC permission

    Hello jaksps,

In line with your concern, User Account Control doesn't have a "allowed-or-blocked" list and disabling the User Account Control involves security risks. Though, there is a workaround to run a program without UAC prompt using Task Scheduler. I'd recommend
performing the steps suggested by SpiritX MS MVP in this
    thread
    .

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.

    UAC prompt really frustrating problem.

    Hi Mitch,

For us to isolate what is causing the UAC issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue?
    • Can you provide us a sample screenshot of the UAC prompt?

We're looking forward to your reply.
