Windows 10: Malwarebytes Vulnerability

Windows Update Failure kb3140743 and kb3139907

I never found vulnerability fix to tick. Just screwed up my computer from a Chinese company that caught with Malwarebytes date base a couple years ago.

 

"Security or Firewall settings might be blocking the connection"

Won't that leave my computer vulnerable to viruses etc? I have Malwarebytes as well, but if I turn it off I get half a dozen warnings from Windows 10 to turn it on.

I'm not qualified to address the veracity of the claims made in the article.
I'll defer to others with more security expertise.

I will, however, say that I am immediately skeptical of its accuracy, given the fact that that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) is not, was not and never has been an "antivirus for Windows".
It is a specialized anti-malware application designed to run alongside an antivirus.

Semantics.

Malwarebytes admits the vulnerability in the last paragraph. Point is Malwarebytes, like all security software, is not perfect.

I hope the researchers are better at their security job than they are at nomenclature.*chuckle

Thankfully, the vulnerability was fixed several days ago.
