My laptop, Acer Aspire ES1-521-64XK cannot process KB5026361: it typically gets to 43% installed then unwinds. It also disables wifi in the process, which I can prevent by inserting a Force command in registry. Is there a way to manually download the upgrade and apply it offline?

    Windows 10 (22H2) support hasn't ended.

From Windows 10 Home and Pro - Microsoft Lifecycle | Microsoft Learn

Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10, and all editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date.

Regarding the KB5026361 update, you may try installing it using the offline installer. The link is below:

If that doesn't help, please do an in-place upgrade (repair installation) using the ISO. See How to perform an In-place Upgrade with Windows 10 Step-by-Step Guide - Microsoft Community.

    KB5026361 won't install

    Hello David,

Thanks for the summary of tasks to be done. I followed them by the book but I still cannot install the update KB5026361.

I am running Windows 10 Version 22H2 Build 19045.2788 (as a VM under Ubuntu 22.04 with VirtualBox Version 7.0.8 - the latest incl. the latest Guest Additions).

On the "automatic" update via Settings I always get the error "0x80073701".

When I try to manually install the update it runs smoothly until the end but ends with the message that the update was not installed.

It would be great if you have any other hints of what I can do in order to install the update KB5026361.

    Thanks for your help!

    Regards,

    Hans

Disable Offline Map downloads and updates

Yeah, that disables the auto download and update....which is good. I'm trying to take it a step further by greying out the options for offline maps altogether.

With that GPO set users can still manually download...
