  1. Many "Generic PnP Monitor" entries in Color Management control panel

    Hi All,

I'm on build 16299.214 (latest official release) and am running into an issue when using ICC profiles.

Note that I just recently switched from an nVidia GTX660 card to an AMD R9 290. I ran driver cleaner to make sure all nVidia drivers were gone, and installed the most recent AMD Radeon driver & AMD Radeon Settings. I do not recall this problem before switching video cards.

Anyway, I have used DisplayCal in the past to calibrate my monitors, and I also use their profile loader to make sure the proper ICC is associated with my each monitor in my dual-monitor setup. It seems to work, however I just noticed some conflicts with the Windows Color Calibration that I hadn't noticed before.

The attached screenshot is my Color Management Control Panel - Device Dropdown. It seems that I've got all these strange "generic PnP monitor" entries now that I don't recall seeing previously. My monitors are in there as well - the HP models - in addition to Printers?? and a scanner.

I also notice that when I click one of my monitors (HP zr24w OR zr2440w) in the list, my computer & mouse temporarily lag for 5-10 seconds - pretty severe lag. During the lag, the the Color Control Panel jumps up in CPU usage - to around 10% - then goes back to 0 and the lag disappears.

I apologize for the wall of text! Just trying to get these issues figured out. I'm assuming they're all rooted in the same place, but are a bit of a pickle for now.

FYI - I have run sfc /scannow and dism, and neither reports any errors whatsoever.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Display/Screen colour calibration problem

The problem is not your graphics card or the OS. Problem lies in the monitor specified in the Device Manager. The default which is installed by Windows 10 is "PnP Display Monitor (Standard)". This messes everything up! Simple right-click on it, update
driver. DO NOT let windows automatically look for the driver. Choose to specify your monitor, and then choose to pick from a list, then choose the "Generic PnP Display Monitor" - now the Display Color Calibration Should work, and you'll find that your brightness
    control probably work again.
