Windows 10: Many of my picture folders are appearing empty on Win 11 pro

Hello, I am running Windows 11 pro. I had been feeling for some time now like entire folders have gone missing. Most recently , because of that, I tried backing up to my samsun SSD . I am a photographer so I have a good amount of files to transfer and I tried to copy my entire picture folder to my SSD over night. I think perhaps that may be a reason why now I see empty picture folders in my picture files. they have gone missing. How do I recover those files? Note I was copying not cutting and pasting.I want to ensure firstly that my system is working well and also work on recovery. I have a

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

Win 11 Explorer Pictures Folders

Greetings, I see a "Pictures" folder (has a blue icon) in Win 11 Explorer Quick Access. I would like to move all my pictures over to my C drive. Can someone suggest an easily accessible/recommended place on C drive to put all my pictures ? I found a folder called in C, Users, Default also called "Pictures" (minus the blue icon). What is the difference between the two Pictures folders ?

 

Correct Directory Location For Pictures Folder

"Now Documents, Videos etc say file location is This PC. But Pictures file location is C:\Users\PeteyBoPetey\Pictures."

If we understand you correctly, the issue is that Pictures doesn't appear in the left panel under This PC. The correct location IS C:\Users\PeteyBoPetey\Pictures. This is only an issue of using Step 8 in the tutorial to add it back to the list. See if this screenshot is what you want to achieve- put Pictures folder back in list on L.
