Map network drive asking for credentials when none are used

I cannot get a third profile to map to a network drive on my laptop. Me, The administrator is mapped and working fine. 1 profileI created a new profile for my daughter and mapped the drive with no issues. 2nd profileI created a new profile for my son 3rd profile and when I try to map the drive the exact same way, it keeps telling me to "Enter Network Credentials" Name/Password.This network is in my home and the drive does not have a user name or password. I have another laptop that is mapped just fine. only me, the administrator has a profile on that. There is something with my sons p

Mapped network drive, Windows keeps asking for password

It seems to me that you might be using the Connect using different credentials setting but I can see that you have repeatedly cleared & re-setup the mapping so that seems unlikely.
    Map network drive - TenForumsTutorials
    - See Option 1 Step 5 and possibly other paras in the tutorial.

Perhaps you could clear the mapping again,
check that the relevant Registry entry is removed &
map it to a different drive letter just to make sure that no previous mistake could be affecting your subsequent attempts to map it without the Connect using different credentials setting.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Windows not asking me for log-in credentials when mapping network driv

You're right, it does, and if I look in the credentials manager, I can see win 10 using my windows username/pass to access the router. And I do have access to the files, except when I turn off guest access in the router's Samba management screen. In that case, I can't access the drive from windows--I'm guessing it wants the router's user credentials, which is how I access it from the Nvidia shield (maybe I should try my win credentials). Now, if I try to map that router share network place and click on "Connect using different credentials," a popup will come up defaulting to my router's username. Windows will try to connect, then fail. This is basically where I need help. I've attached a bunch of screenshots. I

Like I said, If I turn on allow guest access in the router admin, I can access the drive from windows but not from the Nvidia Shield, and that's the heart of the problem.

Saving credentials in network mapped drive

    Hi Richard,

Credential Manager allows you to save and manage web and Windows credentials for circumstances like network drive mapping. If you have trouble logging in credentials every time you save/open/copy/edit files, kindly try these following methods:

    Methods 1: Managing Credentials

    • On the search box, search and open Credential Manager.
    • Click Windows Credentials and select Add a Windows Credential.
    • Fill in the required information and click OK.

Method 2: Allowing reconnection at log on.

    • Open the File Explorer and select This PC.
    • Click Computer beside File tab on the upper-right corner and click Map network drive.
    • Browse to the drive that you want to remember your credentials and check
      Reconnect at sign-in.
    • Click Finish.

Note: If reconnect at sign-in does not work, try re-mapping the drive.

Also, if your PCs are not up-to-date, we recommend updating them because these issues may happen because of some bugs on Windows, and an updated PC may address this kind of issues.

Let us know how things go.

    Regards.
