Hello. I have a NAS at home running Linux. The server name is Debian, and the folder is media. There is a Samba share on that NAS that I'm trying to map in Windows 11 Home.It was working at one point, but then the IP address changed. When I attempt to map the network drive as \\Debian\media and enter the username and password I have set up for that server, I get an error in Windows. "The user's password must be changed before logging in for the first time."I have another NAS box that maps just fine as a network share, but that's my backup server. How can I get this mapped drive to reauthenticat at login

I'm trying to get this mapped drive on an xp machine to reauthenticate when the computer reboots or is logged back in. The account the user uses is on a domain that is currently unavailable (server failure). The physical drive being mapped is on the other server which has the other domain here.

Now i can login as another user i create on the domain, check reconnect at login no problem. But the next day files won't open unless she clicks the drive and enters the user password there. its not a big intervention, but id like it to be seemless.

Suggestions?

No, it's saying that on this computer you already have a drive letter mapped to the other computer's D: drive. By default a mapping you made previously is reconnected after rebooting. Type net use to see a list of exiting mappings. Type net use x: /delete to disconnect the existing mapping (change 'x:' to the letter you actually have mapped).

Meanwhile, if you're adding a network location, we suggest that you follow these steps below about adding a network location:

• Open This PC in File Explorer, click on the Computer tab, click on the
  Add a network location button in the ribbon.
• Click on Next in the Add Network Location wizard.
• Click on Choose a custom network location, and click on
  Next.
• Type the address of the website, FTP site, or network location you want to add, and click on
  Next.
• If you are allowed to log on anonymously to this network location, click on
  Next.
• Type a name you want for this network location in This PC, and click on
  Next.
